SERVICE TECHNICIAN
Reports to: Field Operations Lead
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8:00 AM - 4:00/5:00 PM; Friday 7:15 AM - 4:00 PM
Attendance at Friday Weekly Rundown (7:15 AM) is mandatory.
Rotational Saturdays 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM (1-2/month) during the busy season.
Mandatory overtime is typical in winter months; summer schedules are flexible with opportunities for unpaid time off.
Position Summary:
The service technician services, maintains, sweeps, cleans, inspects, and diagnoses fireplaces, stoves, and chimney systems. This role requires mechanical ability, attention to detail, and professionalism/communication while in customers' homes. Technicians are expected to work safely, communicate clearly, and represent Schlemmer's Fire & Outdoor with pride.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Service gas, wood, and pellet fireplaces and stoves.
- Perform chimney and venting inspections and cleanings.
- Diagnose and repair system issues accurately and safely.
- Load, unload, and organize materials for daily jobs.
- Complete all required service reports, inspection forms, checklists, and job documentation.
- Will require work on roofs, attics, and crawlspaces.
- Assist with warehouse organization, receiving deliveries, and product staging as needed.
- Diagnose and identify parts, communicating clearly with the office team and customers regarding job progress, parts needs, and customer concerns.
You will work independently, in customers' homes, representing a company built on quality and trust. You'll climb ladders, work in crawlspaces, lift heavy, and solve problems. We'll train you on the technical side of the trade (troubleshooting and maintenance), and you'll be held to a high standard for craftsmanship and safety. Schedule: Full-time, Mon-Fri. Occasional Saturdays in peak season (winter). Some overtime required during peak season.We’re a very small team, growing fast, rebuilding as we go. Everyone here plays an active role in the structuring of processes and determining ways to better service our customers. We are looking for strong, well-developed character over experience. We can and will teach the skills that are required to service fireplaces and understand operations. We install and service fireplaces, stoves, and outdoor living products. The work is physical, and requires skill, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving ability.
$19-25/hr, based on experience & performance.
**During the 90-day training period, pay starts at $19/hr, with pay increase based on skill development. CSIA certification (provided by employer, is Experienced technicians may start higher.
