Maintenance Technician

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

This position is responsible for being proficient in all areas of PM, repair and upkeep of plant equipment and facilities as well as actively training Maintenance Technicians.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Participate in daily safety and planning meeting.
• Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing PMs or thru downtime repairs. Preventive maintenance requirements on motor, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyor systems, furnaces, and other types of foundry equipment.
• Must be capable of following prints, diagrams, sketches, manuals, and oral instructions.
• Must be capable of understanding printed PM format and able to fill out all paperwork involved.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts on equipment. Dismantles machinery in order to access part(s) needing repair replaces/repairs defective parts and reassembles machinery. Lubricates and cleans working mechanisms on production equipment.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of all production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
• Must be willing to continue learning base with hands on experience and formal training.
• Must maintain continuity among work team and management thru work actions and communication.
• Thru our PM system you will receive daily work orders and PMs.  You may also receive verbal assignments from management.  By reviewing your daily assignments, you will prioritize them by importance and schedule your work for the day.
• Communicates accurately and professionally to management and team any issues that may need passed on or addressed immediately.
• Adheres to safety stands by promoting a safe work environment through attending safety training, participating in daily department safety meetings and verifying all safety concerns are addressed.
• May be required to work flexible schedules, including Saturdays and Sundays.
• Capable of repairing critical equipment and performing preventive and predictive maintenance.  You will also be required to complete projects such as mechanical and electrical hardware and possible basic PLC troubleshooting.
• Must acquire continued training and skill levels with electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, and hydraulics to better suit you for advancement or other positioning in the company.
• Must read and understand work instructions.
• Must complete paperwork as necessary for position.

• Mid to high level skills in a fast paced environment using preventive and predictive maintenance.
• Basic knowledge and ability to PLC troubleshoot.
• Knowledge and understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and control systems.

• Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and improve complex systems.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with customers and management.
• Knowledge and experience using LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out).
• A team player that is highly disciplined, has a strong work ethic and is a problem solver.
• Must be capable of using basic and advanced tools in performing duties
• Must be willing to share your knowledge, as well as learn from team.
• Good communication skills; and, work in a team environment.
• Must have good judgement and decision making skills.
• Must have good time management skills.
• Must have knowledge and understanding of how to appropriately wear job required PPE.
• Ability to read, understand and follow work instructions; and, to follow directions with attention to detail.
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to repetitively lift up to 60 lbs; tolerate repetitive bending and twisting; and, stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to work in temperatures with variations ranging from approximately 100 degrees in the summer to approximately 65 degrees in the winter.
• Has the ability to stop shipment and stop production to correct the quality issue.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

• Requires five (5) years previous maintenance experience.
