Job Description

Wabash Carnegie Public Library is more than just books—it’s the heart of a vibrant, engaged community of readers and lifelong learners. With our newly expanded and renovated facility, we’re proud to serve as a hub for information and inspiration, cultural enrichment and essential services. Now, as our current director prepares to pursue new opportunities, we are seeking the next Executive Director to guide us into the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage financial operations: payroll, purchasing, and accounting
  • Foster a positive, collaborative workplace culture
  • Ensure the library is safe, secure, and well-maintained
  • Build strong community relationships and serve as the library’s public ambassador
  • Advocate for funding and support at the local and state levels
  • Implement strategic goals set by the Board of Trustees

Qualifications:

  • MLIS (ALA-accredited) required
  • 3–5 years of progressively responsible leadership experience (public library preferred)
  • Strong skills in budgeting, staff supervision, and facilities management
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility
